* Foz means the mouth of a river, in Portuguese.  The city of Foz do Iguacu is located where the Iguacu River meets the Parana River  downstream from the Itaipu dam, in the Parana .  The region is where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay have common borders.  In portuguese, Falls are "quedas" or, more majestically, "Cataratas".
